Privacy policy
Effective 3 Nov 2026
GetPlacementPrep helps you prepare for campus placement tests. This page explains what we store, why, who else handles it, and how to delete it. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
Without an account
If you use GetPlacementPrep without signing in, your profile, answers, attempts, code drafts, and study plan are saved only in your browser's local storage on this device. We do not receive them. Clearing site data, or Settings → Erase preparation data, removes them.
With a Google account
When you sign in with Google, we store:
- Account details from Google: your name, email address, and profile picture link. We ask Google only for these (the
openid email profilescopes). Google's sign-in tokens are stored encrypted and are not used to access anything else in your Google account. - Your preparation data: the preferences you enter (name, college, graduation batch, language, daily time, goal, target date), your answers and assessment attempts, code you write and submit, study tasks, your review schedule for questions you missed, and a short activity history. This is what lets you continue on another device.
- Sign-in sessions: for each signed-in device, a session record with its IP address and browser details, to keep you signed in and to spot misuse. Sessions expire after 30 days.
Comparisons with other students
If you are signed in, your latest score on each mock test and your accuracy in each subject are included, anonymously, in comparisons such as “top 30% on this paper”. Only the scores are compared: other students never see your name, email, or answers, and a comparison is shown only once at least 50 students are included. This is on by default; turn it off in Settings and your scores are removed from the comparison. Guests are never included.
Reminders and email
If you turn on the daily reminder while signed in, we store this device's push address (issued by your browser's push service, such as Google, Mozilla, or Apple), your chosen time, and your time zone, and send one notification a day. Turning the reminder off deletes them. If you turn on the weekly summary, we email your account address once a week through our email provider; every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Both are off unless you turn them on.
Other data we process
- Security limits: IP addresses are used briefly to rate-limit sign-in and other requests.
- Running code: when you press Run or Submit, your code is sent to our code-execution server to be compiled and run against test cases in an isolated sandbox. Only the code and the problem are sent, not your name or email.
- Error reports: if the app crashes, we may receive a technical report (error message, page, browser type). Reports exclude your answers, code, cookies, and request contents.
- Usage statistics: we count page views and measure page speed in aggregate. This uses no cookies and does not identify you.
Your browser also keeps a copy of your preparation data in local storage so the app works offline. Signing out removes it from that browser.
Why we use it
Only to run the service: to show your progress and study plan, sync it across your devices, show anonymous comparisons (unless you turn them off), keep your account secure, and fix problems. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it.
Who else handles it
We use service providers that process data on our behalf:
- Vercel — hosting, and aggregate usage and speed statistics.
- Neon — the database that stores accounts and synced preparation data.
- Google — sign-in.
- Sentry — error reports, if enabled.
- Resend — sends the weekly summary email, if you turn it on.
- Your browser's push service — delivers daily reminders, if you turn them on.
- A cloud server provider — hosts the code-execution server we operate, which runs code you choose to run or submit and keeps results only briefly.
These providers may store data outside India.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and preparation data until you delete them. Expired sessions are removed automatically.
Your choices and rights
- See and correct: everything we store about your preparation is shown in the app, and you can change your details in Settings.
- Erase preparation data: Settings → Erase preparation data removes it from your account and this browser.
- Leave comparisons: Settings → “Include my scores in anonymous comparisons” removes your scores from them.
- Delete your account: Settings → Delete account permanently deletes your account and everything synced to it.
- Ask us: for anything else, including a complaint about how your data is handled, contact us below. You may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Age
GetPlacementPrep is meant for college students aged 18 or over. If you are under 18, use it only with a parent or guardian's permission, without signing in.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date above and say so in the app.
